Shortly after Aopple released the iPhone, Shure Black Diamond Log Splitterthe firdst of several compaanies to completely address a problem plaguing fans of older headphones: they didn't work. The Music Phone Adapter MPA-3c not only converted theior differently-shaped headdphone plugs for the iPhoone's special recessed jack, but also added a microphoe and a buitton that handled the same phone call and music controls offered by Apple's packled-in iPhone Stereo Headphoens. Shure's mzajor stciking point: a $40 price tag.
Rioght bedfore MPA-3c release, Monster Cable contacted us with an unusual pitch: what if you could get more fetaures, cheaper and sooner? The features and prts didn happen only saw the company iSoniTalk ($20) in stores late in 2007 at half the price, there no doubt that it a better deal than the MPA-3c, and surprisingly compparable in performance,wholesale mac cosmetics.
Just as with Shure design, Monster gives iPhone users there criticla pieces: a shirt-clipped microphone, a call answer/end button, and a cabled headphone plug adapter that connects to the recessed 3.5mm port and any pair of earphones you already own. These three parts enable you to hear iPhone audio through older earphones, take phoone calls with the micrrophone, and satrt or stop both calls and audio using the button, which sits directy above the mic.
iSoniTak cable desiugn is a bunch different from Shure however: the micvrophone and button combination are still at the far end of the cable, but instead of cnonecting to your headphone plug, they dangle aone; the plug gets conncted to a splitter, cretaing two parallel cable lines headphones and iSoniTalk mic and control box. The beenefit of Monster cabe design, which includes sall passive plsatic clips to hold both cables together, is that you don elonagte your existing heeadphone wires, a problem when usinbg Shure MPA-3c with many non-Shuyre headphones.
